Edge of Sins
Edge of Sins is a Slovenian metal band, whose name indicates its signature posture that often challenges the ways of modern society which can easily be perceived as sinful.
The idea of having a metal band began while Jure Flander and Blaž Hadalin were part of a punk/rock/metal/pop band Dog Dryer. During that period they got tired of grinding the same chords over and over again so they decided to pursue more melodic and metalic rythms through the formation of Edge of Sins in early 2012.
After the decision was made, they started gathering people.
The first one to join was Blaž Hadalin's younger brother Nejc Hadalin who had just started playing drums and at first had a hard time keeping up with his more experienced band mates, but he soon proved himself as a skilled drummer.
The second one to join EoS was a bass player, who unfortunately could not participate any longer because of lack of time and different musical expectations.
The third joining member was a growl vocalist, who only stayed with them for a short period of time due to different views and goals for the band.
When the first vocalist left in early 2012 the search of a new vocalist began. Shortly after the second vocalist was given the role, he decided to decline the opportunity.
In 2013 a vocalist with clean vocals stepped in. He was a member until early 2015 when the band drifted apart due to differences in the artistic directions.
In mid 2015 the real story of Edge of Sins began. The surviving members, motivated more than ever, began to take matters seriously and decided to hit the studio for the recording of their first demo - Escape plan. Not having a vocalist nor a bass player, Jure Flander filled in and created the bass line. They recorded the demo with the help of a session vocalist, Gregor Čadež (Sarkazm, Rise).
As soon as they had their first recording, they were more confident in their search of new members and so Anže Javoršek was invited to join as the bass player.
Soon after that, they recorded another song – Saved Soul and shortly after, two more vocalists (one with clean and the other with growl vocals) were asked to join Edge of Sins.
Towards the very end of 2015, the growl vocalist decided to resign due to a difference in priorities, but Matic Pavlin stayed and took the role of Edge of Sin's frontman.
In early 2016 the band’s true path began as they were starting to plan the recording of their first album My Escape.
The band's work in My Escape is presented as a concept album because the tracks are written with the purpose of telling a story. Listening to the songs, we learn the struggles of a man, who feels trapped inside his own life – he is compelled to wear a Mask society made for him and he feels it is the only way to fit into this false world of hypocrisy; but underneath his untrue face, he admits we are born to die, he knows Living is Dying and he knows Time is always running out. As society's Dead Future haunts him he is shown a way for his Soul to be Saved. He forges an Escape Plan and the Battle Begins. At the end of his journey, he becomes The Wolf Marching onto his own World of Sin. His goal is to live on the Edge, but not to stray from the Path.
After the album was released in mid 2016, the band split ways with one of their founding members, Jure Flander - due to different visions for the future.
And as the year 2016 was slowly coming to an end, Edge of Sins got their new beginning. They joined forces with the guitar player Mile Vrbica who didn’t stay long due to different creative approaches.
In mid 2017 they got a new band member, a guitar player Žiga Kodre and now they are ready to conquer some new wins!
